Three killed as armed robbers storm bank in Ekiti

An attack by armed robbers at a bank located at  Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State reportedly caused pandemonium in the area, and further led to the death of three people.


Those killed in the attack by the armed robbers include two policemen, a bank worker and passersby. It was gathered that the incident took place at about 4.30 pm, few minutes after the bank had officially closed for the day.

The armed robbers who announced their arrival with gun shots which frightened residents who scampered for safety, also left some bank workers and customers at the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) gallery of the bank with varying degrees of injuries.

The gunmen who blew the bank’s security door with dynamite to gain access into the baking hall, also carted away an undisclosed amount of money during the raid which was said to have lasted for about an hour.
