FCMB Bank Manager Commits Suicide In Front Of His Pastor In Lagos Over Debt.

Mr. Olisa Nwakoby, a manager at a second generation bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc on Friday evening shot himself dead in the presence of his Priest at the Lekki area of Lagos Island, Lagos State.

The father of a 10-year- old daughter was said to have taken his own life because of an incriminating huge loan transaction he approved in his bank.

Sources close to the family told ST at the weekend that the late Olisa was the approving officer for the loan which the beneficiary is no longer servicing and the bank was on the neck of Olisa to get the money back.

His late father, Chief Patrick Oguejiofor Nwakoby was a former chairman of First Bank of Niger Plc, a successfully lawyer, politician and a highly respected community leader before his death.

Fear over his integrity and the name of his family, which could be dented if his bank commences action against him over the loan, was too much for the vibrant banker to bear prompting him to shoot himself, our source said.

Our source did not say that there was suspicion of any foul play in the death of the banker, she also could not confirm the actual amount involved in the transaction, but she simply said “it was huge.” The case is being handled by homicide detectives attached to Area J Command, Lekki/Ajah. According to a police source.

The banks, on the fateful day he killed himself, went to meet his pastor. He told the pastor to tell his wife to take good care of his children, that what he would do in next few minutes would shock everyone. He was said to have later blown his brains out.

The source continued, “It was later discovered that he took money from the bank, N350million, and the money started creating problems for him. He killed himself.”

"Nigerian Policemen Are Armed Robbers" - Girl Makes Shocking Allegation. See Photos

A strong allegation has been levied against men of the Nigeria Police Force about stealing money from a driver whom they reportedly stopped along Enugu-Port-Harcout highway.. A female passenger who was among those in the bus when this happened shared the sad story of what she labelled as an "ARMED ROBBERY"

This was shared by Precious Eze on Thursday, July 28th.
The Enugu-Portharcourt Express Way (the boundary between Enugu and Abia States) has become a danger zone for men of the Under-World who are actually Mobil Police Officers, stopping and robbing motorists in the name of asking for documents.

Today, I experienced their high handedness and high level of idiocy on that road as they pretentiously stopped the ITC Sienna I boarded from Enugu to Owerri and were asking the driver to open the backside glass of a Sienna for them.

The driver was quick to ask if they didn't know that the backside glass of a Sienna car doesn't open excerpt the doors are used for better view and he was like, ''yes I know, but I say make you open the glass'', give me all your documents and the driver did, when he couldn't find any fault, he demanded for the drivers personal ID card which was when the driver exclamated, asking what his personal ID card was for when he had his driver's license and all his vehicle particulars with him.

Military In Last Minute Preparations For Final Showdown With Niger Delta Militants

The Nigerian military is preparing for a final showdown with Niger Delta militants to stop the bombing of oil facilities in the Niger Delta region. This is even as the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) disclosed that it has secured some concessions from the Federal Government.

The group also backed the use of force if “the recalcitrant Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) continue on their senseless and political-motivated path of attacks on the country’s oil assets.”

Minister of Defenc Dan-Ali (retd), who stated the position of the Federal Government over the weekend in an interview after a closed door meeting in Yenegoa with Commander of Operation Delta State (ODS), Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie, operational officers and explained that despite the ongoing talks with militants to address their grievances, the use of force was not ruled out to end the criminality being perpetrated by some of the groups.

He restated that the Federal Government was committed to peace in the Niger Delta and was prepared to do everything to ensure that the ongoing talks yield positive result.

Dan Ali, who was accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, said the Federal Government was implementing resolutions reached with government of the Niger Delta State on the conduct of it operation in the region.

He disclosed that like it did in the North-east, civilians would be involved in its operations and would work with the special force being trained to ensure that fake websites used to dish out rumours to intimidate people were closed down.

Dan Ali explained that former agitators trained under the amnesty programme would also be involved in the efforts to secure peace in the region. He allayed the fears that collateral damage might occur when the military operation start.

“We are not going to war. It is an internal security operation. We know our rules of engagement so there is no need to talk of collateral damage. As far as we are concerned, what we are doing is to stop the criminality in the Niger Delta region.”

Also speaking, Olonisakin said the Federal Government has provided the opportunity for negotiation, adding however, that the military would not condone the continued destruction of oil facilities.

“We are doing everything to secure peace. We have provided the opportunity for negotiations and discussions and we expect those sabotaging the nation’s oil infrastructure to come to the negotiation table.

“We want to assure that those that want to continue to destroy oil facilities would be dealt with,” he said.

Let’s Talk Turkey About Turkey By Reuben Abati

Read his article below...
I was shocked by the trenchant reaction to my piece on the July 15 attempted coup in Turkey from at least two persons. The piece titled “Nigerians and the Failed Coup in Turkey” (The Guardian, Sunday, July 17) had fetched a mail and direct messages from a concerned Nigerian who objected to my description of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a bad guy- an intolerant, arrogant, temperamental dictator who after July 15 could become even more authoritarian.
The fellow praised Erdogan and spoke glowingly about how well the Turkish economy has fared under his watch. I also got a list of current economic indicators on Turkey sent to me.

Nigeria will disintegrate before Buhari's very eyes if any more innocent blood is shed- FFK

The former Aviation Minister said this in a new post he shared on his Facebook wall. It reads
"On 29th July 2016, CNN reported that "the Nigerian government is preparing troops for a crackdown in the Niger Delta if peace talks fail". This is sad and ominous. As United States Senator Ted Cruz once said "the light of truth is stronger than the terror of darkness". It follows that the biggest mistake that the Buhari administtation can possibly make is to attempt to "crack down" on the Niger Delta and kill innocent civilians.
If this ever happens, for whatever reason, it will set off a chain of events that will lead to the end of Nigeria as we know it. Nigeria will disintegrate before Buhari's very eyes if any more innocent blood is shed and if the towns, creeks and villages of the oil-producing states are shelled and reduced to rubble.

Stephen Keshi's Son, Femi Blasts Federal Government For Snubbing His Father's Burial...

If this is really true, then the Nigerian government should be ashamed of itself. Stephen Keshi’s son, Femi, has blasted the federal government and others for failing to keep their promises to the family despite pledging to honor the late football icon.

Femi took to his Instagram page to pour out his mind concerning the issue.

I sat in front of the federal government on national television a few weeks ago and they promised they would honor pops the way he deserves. They said that he has done to much for the country for them not to.

They made us change dates to fit the federal governments schedule. But they didn't do as promised, we aren't mad, nor sad, just disappointed, they should be ashamed of themselves. This sends a terrible message to our youth that are striving to do great things for Nigeria. The good thing is that We was raised not to ask for handouts.

There will be no more postponements, today the funeral ceremonies began in Benin, the place he loved, where his career started. My sisters, brother and I held it down, with the help of a few others, and now we are putting our pops to rest. We don't owe anyone shit and we can say they owe pops everything. No salt, it is not the people's fault, we still love Nigeria as pops did.
