FG denies sacking Magu as EFCC chairman
The presidency has denied reports that Ibrahim Magu, has been relieved of his appointment as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Guardian newspaper quoted an unnamed source as saying Mr. Magu had been asked to vacate his seat by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
Officials at the presidency denied the report.

President Buhari removes Magu as EFCC boss

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, may have finally been removed from office.


 The Guardian reports his redeployment back to Nigerian Police Force (NPF) was to pave way for a fresh person to be presented by President Muhammadu Buhari as the nominee to head the anti-graft agency before the Senate.

To make the situation look like a routine exercise, some senior Police officers would be re-deployed 
by the Police hierarchy to resume as conventional Police officers.

It was equally reliably gathered yesterday that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has already issued a letter to Magu on the development and directed that he hands over to the Director of Operations in the Commission.

Magu’s nomination was recently rejected by the Senate following allegation of graft leveled against him by the Department of State Security Service (DSS).

The wife of the Greek ambassador to Brazil and her policeman lover have been arrested today after the ambassador, Mr. Kyriakos Amiridis vanished without a trace on Boxing Day Monday and his charred remains were found on Wednesday.


This is coming days after the ambassador reportedly caught his wife, Francois Amiridis in bed with military policeman Sergio Gomes Moreira Filho.

In the wake of recent police killings across the country, a photographer, Praise-Legend Onwuachu, has narrated how he had to resort to grabbing and holding on to the gun of a policeman, who was about to shoot him while conducting a search on him and his friends on Monday, December 26.


Onwuachu said he was on his way back from covering an event on Boxing Day, had driven from Owerri, Imo State to Onitsha, Anambra State without incident, until he got to Nkpor Junction and encountered a team of policemen.

He said a member of the team asked him if he had a tinted glass permit, which he said he had and was trying to retrieve the document as he sat in his car when one of them became angry, asking, “So, you don’t want to come down?”
