Tinubu had told President Muhammed Buhari of his presidential ambition when he visited him in Aso Villa on Monday.

All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Bola Tinubu has been urged to abandon any plan to contest in the 2023 presidiential election.

Former Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Alhaji Shuaibu Mugeni said instead of Tinubu contesting, he should set aside his ambition and support intellectual and young Nigerians for the position.

Tinubu had told President Muhammed Buhari of his presidential ambition when he visited him in Aso Villa on Monday.

Reacting to Tinubu’s future ambition, while speaking with DAILYPOST in Kaduna on Tuesday, Mugeni said Nigeria is too large for Tinubu to control going by his age, adding that the entire world has changed to more advanced technology, and the only people that fit the changing trends are the younger generation.

According to him, for example, to even be a local government chairman in Nigeria, in this present age requires a lot of commitment physically.

“Nigeria needs an energetic young intellectual brain to meet up with the changing trends. You need to be a workaholic man, frequent checking, on computers, logging out details and searching using laptop responding to issues in a classical way, and tending to foreign demands using computers, laptops and other accessories for you to meet up with the global challenge. To be a president of Nigeria isn’t easy and that is where some people are missing it,” he said.

Mugeni further noted that the typewriter was used as an instrument for secret letters and correspondences during Tinubu’s era as a young man, further explaining that what obtained today, was a complete departure from the past and there was no way he could cope with the present world.

He further noted that what helped Buhari was the fact that he was a trained retired soldier, adding that, “even as a retired army officer, he faces a lot of challenges, resulting from banditry, inflation, unemployment among others.

According to him, to be a President of Nigeria or political leader is not about popularity, riches, but a more energetic, intellectual and dynamic with the human capability to put things right against all odds.
