Yobe lawmaker announces he has tested positive for covid-19

Yobe House of Assembly member Lawan Nguru has tested positive for COVID.


The representative of Nguru Central Constituency and only PDP opposition member of the Assembly, announced this on Wednesday.

The lawmaker, in a statement in Damaturu, said he has also gone into isolation on the instruction of health personnel.

He however denied media reports he refused to go into isolation, stressing he can never undermine efforts of the state government in containing the pandemic by putting the lives of people in danger.


He expressed confidence in the proactive manner the Yobe state Government is handling the pandemic, just as he advised the people of the state to follow all advice from medical personnel in other to stop the spread of the virus.

Nguru said: “Presently, I am in isolation centre and recuperating in a very stable condition waiting for further directives from Health officers. In addition, I salute the gesture shown to us by Yobe State Government in up keeping the victims and in controlling the spread of the virus in the state.”
