Medicine dealer hangs self to death in Cross River

A patent medicine dealer, David Agabi, in the Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State has ended his life.

It was gathered that Agabi, who was popular in Igoli where he operated his medicine store, committed suicide on Friday in his house located on Okuku Road, Igoli, Ogoja.

“Agabi might have taken his life because he was indebted to somebody and was facing family problems,” a source said.

Those who knew him said he was financially okay as he owned a flourishing medicine store with the name located on the busy Mission Road, close to Holy Child Secondary School, Mount Carmel, Ogoja.

It was gathered that he supplied medicines to major hospitals in the state.

“His death came as shock to many residents of Igoli,” said Pauline Adebe, a resident of Igoli.

Members of Agabi’s family could not be reached for comments as they were in deep mourning.

The police spokesperson in the state, DSP Irene Ugbo, promised to contact the police division in charge of the area where the incident happened.
