The co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign, Aisha Yesufu, has questioned the Enconomic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over its failure to probe the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
Mrs Yesufu questioned the anti-graft agency on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Tuesday, October 5.
This online news platform understands that Aisha, who is one of the major critics of President Muhammadu Buhari, was referring to the bullion vans that were spotted at Tinubu’s Lagos residence earlier this year.
Recall that two bullion vans were spotted at Tinubu’s Bourdillon home in Ikoyi, Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city, a day before the commencement of the 2019 general elections in February 2019.
Reacting to the development at the time, Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State had frowned at those questioning the appearance of the vans at his residence, saying that since there was no report that the bullion vans contained electoral materials, he had committed no offence.
The APC National Leader had also said he had not stolen government money, adding that he has had no contact with government money in any way in the last five years.
Apparently displeased with the EFCC’s inability to probe the incident after several months, Deji Adeyanju, the convener of Concerned Nigerians, had petitioned the anti-graft agency over the matter.
However, since Adeyanju’s petition, the EFCC is yet to issue a statement regarding its next move on the issue prompting Yesufu to react.
It is quite pathetic how @officialEFCC is ridiculing itself. Instead of being an institution it has become a organisation in the pocket of a few.
If Ganduje has immunity & you refused to go after him what does Tinubu have? Anointing?
