Bayelsa APC deputy governorship candidate, Biobarakuma Degi disqualified

Bayelsa APC deputy governorship candidate, Biobarakuma Degi disqualified

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday November 12, disqualified the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship candidate Biobarakuma Degi.

Biobarakuma Degi was disqualified for reportedly submitting a false information to the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) in his CF0001 form ahead of the November 16 Governorship election.

Justice Inyang Ekwo who ruled on the petition brought to the court by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he found no connection between Degi's first school leaving certificate, first degree (BA), Masters and the affidavits he swore to.

The Federal High Court Judge held that the documents bore different names, hence the disqualification of the APC Deputy Governorship candidate on grounds of submitting false information to INEC.

With the court ruling, Bayelsa APC governorship candidate David Lyon now stands alone as the window for substitution of candidates has closed.
