Two robbers killed during gun battle with police in Lagos

A gun battle between a gang of robbers and some policemen on Monday September 23, led to the tragic end of two members of the gang who robbed early road users around Alakija on the Badagry Expressway.

The robbers that hijacked a commercial bus and robbed its passengers of their phones around 5am reportedly opened fire on the police officers that arrived the scene after a tip-off, to evade arrest. 

“Policemen retaliated and in the process two of the robbers died while the third one, Quadri Suleiman sustained leg injury. They are notorious in Sattelite, Tolu and environs. These boys operate up to Ajegunle and they terrorise people,” he said.

“The injured one claimed it was his first time to join them" a police source told The Nation. 

Firearms used by the robbers were recovered while Suleiman was transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit.
