BREAKING: Oyo ADC Suspends Chairman, 7 Others Over Indiscipline, Anti-party (SEE LIST)
The state executive committee of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, is not happy with the role played by some people before and during the just concluded general elections.
After its expanded meeting yesterday, the party has decided to suspend its chairman, Dr Ahmed Ayinla and 7 other members of the executive committee.
BEING THE TEXT OF A COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE EXPANDED STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (SEC) MEETING OF THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC), OYO STATE CHAPTER.
The Oyo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), rising from its Expanded State Executive Committee (SEC) Meeting held at the party’s State Secretariat, Bolumole, Ibadan, on Thursday 14 March, 2019, considered several issues of urgent importance, resolving as follows:
1. EVALUATION OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, GOVERNORSHIP AND STATE ASSEMBLY ELECTION
While Expanded SEC considered the National Assembly elections held on 23 February, 2019, it also noted with joy, the success recorded by the adopted gubernatorial candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during the last governorship elections.
Expanded SEC thus appreciated all stakeholders, especially its state assembly candidates, for their understanding, cooperation and commitment.
2. IMPACT OF THE ROLES PLAYED BY SOME STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICERS, AS WELL AS MEMBERS OF THE PARTY BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE LAST ELECTION
Expanded SEC noted with dismay, the roles played by some state and local government executive members, as well as some members of the party at various levels before, during and after the last election, wherein the concerned officers and members elected to cooperate with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and its governorship candidate, in total defiance and utter disregard to the party’s directive and position, which decided to coalesce with other political parties to form a formidable force for the purposes of rescuing Oyo State from the tyrannical rule of the APC.
Expanded SEC observed that the concerned officers and members misdirected themselves, and many others, to act contrary to the party’s directive, and promote anti party activities, without any just cause.
Expanded SEC noted with concern, several instances of conflict and clashes of interest the concerned officers and leaders orchestrated in the wake of the election under review, culminating in their actions necessarily and wilfully offending the party’s internal arrangement, and consequently leading to a failure to abide with laid down principles.
Expanded SEC also noted the roles of the concerned leaders, officers and members before, during and after the election under review, stating that it has exposed the party to ridicule and opprobrium.
Expanded SEC consequently viewed the conducts of the concerned officers and leaders as an act of betrayal, and a flagrant disloyalty to the party; therefore resolving that any officer or member of the party involved in such anti party act should be sanctioned accordingly.
Expanded SEC therefore reiterates the need for full activation of the provisions of the party’s constitution on matters of party supremacy and discipline.
Expanded SEC resolves that all those responsible for this avoidable blemish on the party structure should be appropriately sanctioned to prevent them from causing grievous harm to the measured progress the party has made so far.
3. REORGANIZATION AND RESTRUCTURING OF THE PARTY’S STRUCTURE IN THE STATE
Expanded SEC noted that the worrisome development and situation of the party in the state, in view of the unceremonious and technical defection of some key officers and leaders of the party, has led to the positions of the concerned officers and leaders becoming technically vacant.
Expanded SEC therefore resolves to reorganize and restructure certain positions in the party for effectiveness and efficiency, thus making it stronger for future elections.
In a bid to instill discipline, and enforce party supremacy, Expanded SEC consequently resolves that the party should as a matter of urgency, set up measures, and take robust steps to effect the proposed reorganization and restructuring.
4. DISCIPLINE WITHIN THE PARTY HIERARCHY
Expanded SEC noted with displeasure, steps taken by certain overzealous officers and members, hiding under the guise of negotiating political conveniences on behalf of the party without due authorization, to work for the APC and its governorship candidate.
Expanded SEC commends deserving and worthy officers, leaders and members of the party who stood through thick and thin, even in the face of unfavourable political atmosphere and perceived imminent danger to their person and property.
6. DISCIPLINARY MEASURE
Having considered the allegations raised against some concerned state officers, Expanded SEC hereby resolves and declares that such unwholesome practices are totally unacceptable, and morally reprehensible.
To that end, while members, including officers, are urged to imbibe some sense of decorum, loyalty and discipline, with a deep sense of responsibility, Expanded SEC restates and reaffirms the party’s commitment to deal with all cases of infractions and misconduct with utmost dispatch.
Consequent upon the above, the following state officers are hereby suspended from the State Executive Committee (SEC), pending the outcome of the investigation by the Disciplinary Committee set up by the Expanded SEC in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution;
Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Ayinla – State Chairman
Comrade Ademola Adedapo – State Publicity Secretary
