Ambassador Olu Adeniji, the former Foreign Affairs Minister to Ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo, is dead.
According to a report made available to the Press, on Thursday, Adeniji died in London, last Weekend.
The report did not disclose the cause of Adeniyi’s death.
The statement from the National President of the Association of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria, ARCAN, Dapo Fafowora reads:
“I have received with sadness the news of the death of Olu Adeniji, in London, last Sunday. Amb. Adeniji was an iconic figure in the Foreign service, rising to the position of a Permanent Secretary, and later Foreign Minister.
”Before his death, Adeniji was Foreign Affairs Minister under Olusegun Obasanjo’s government. He served from July 2003 to June 2006.
“He was also the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for the United Nations mission in the Central African Republic (MINURCA), and Ambassador to France for 5 years.”
