A boy as young as eight years old, has been beheaded by killers for the purpose of rituals in a Niger State community.

The Special Tactical Squad of the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, attached to the Highway has arrested members of the gang of syndicate along the road
This is sequel to the activities of Kidnappers and Ritual killers along Minna –Abuja road.
According to Leadership, the Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command, DSP Babalola Olanrewaju Adewole said in a press statement yesterday that the arrest was a product of a sustained monitoring at smashing the syndicate which specialized in beheading their victims for ritual purposes in some parts of Niger State .
He stated that the effort led to the arrest of two notorious ritualists, Abdulrashed Aminu 22-year old of age and Ismaila Mohammed 27-year old in possession of a fresh human head at about 9pm by the squad along Minna Paikoro road’s junction .during a stop and search operation
The police spokesman stated that the suspects were arrested with the victim whose severed head was found in their possession and that the 8-year old boy beheaded was later , identified as Hassan Abubakar of Bakajeba village in Paiko Local Government area of the state.
Adewole stated that the two suspects have confessed to the crime during interrogation at the Homicide section of the State Criminals Investigations and Intelligence Department {SCIID] Minna that they cut off the head of the deceased little boy with the use of two sharp knife.
The suspects confessed that the third member of the syndicate one Ibrahim escaped arrest by the police as Adewole stated that the two suspected ritualists are from Lupa and Makera and Ibrahim is from Paiko Local Government of the state.
Meanwhile Leadership reports that the suspects have taken the police to the spot where the headless body of the 8 year old boy was buried in a bush path very close to where the culpable homicide was committed by them for exhumation by the police .
The bereaved father of the 8 year old boy Mallam Abubakar Shuaib said that his son was last seen on Saturday August 26, while allegedly taking a Kettle of water from the house with the view to give an unknown person who was said to have been waiting outside his house on the fateful evening .
He stated that all effort to get the boy failed until he heard that the police had arrested a suspect with human head which he later identified the victim to be his son .
