Some miscreants dealing in adulterated petroleum products have been busted by security operatives in the South-eastern part of Nigeria.

The Imo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, on Tuesday, paraded two persons for allegedly conveying 30,000 of adulterated petroleum product.
NSCDC Commandant in the state, Stephen Lar, said that Peter Mbaeze of Enugu State and Emmanuel Nweke of Anambra State were arrested on May 22, 2017, along Okigwe-Enugu Expressway by his men, following a tip-off.
Lar said that while the two suspects were arrested, two escaped. He said 30,000 litres of vandalised petroleum product with animal feeds were intercepted by the operatives of the command.
He explained that the essence of the animal feeds was to deceive security agents, adding that the suspects could not beat the NSCDC officials with their tricks.
“Two trucks with vandalised petroleum products were intercepted along Okigwe-Enugu Expressway. Two suspects were arrested while two others ran away.
“The trucks were stashed with bags of animal feeds with the intent to deceive security agents, but fortunately, my men apprehended them,” the Commandant said.
He added that the suspects would be charged to court for economic sabotage at end of investigations by his command.
“People should engage in meaningful businesses instead of sabotaging the nation’s economy. No matter the tricks they deploy, our men are everywhere to arrest them. We are pleased that this time, we arrested the real owners of the vandalised products,” Lar added.
When interviewed, one of the suspects, Mbaeze, said the product belonged to his friend identified as Iyke, who was at large.
Another suspect, Nweke, said he was only a driver and was tricked to Umuahia, the Abia State capital, to convey the intercepted product to Enugu State.
